Step into the gentle, wonder-filled world of Beatrix Potter, where stories and nature come together.
In this 6-week outdoor class, children will read/listen to a beloved Beatrix Potter tale each week and then step into the role of a young naturalist—just like she once was. Through careful observation, nature drawings, watercolor painting, writing, and simple scientific exploration, students will learn to notice the small details of the natural world right in our own backyard.
Each class will include:
A read-aloud from a classic Beatrix Potter story
Guided nature observation (plants, trees, insects, and small habitats)
Sketching, painting, and writing
Gentle introduction to scientific concepts through real-life discovery
This class encourages children to slow down, observe closely, and form a meaningful connection with nature. Rather than rushing through information, we focus on building habits of attention, curiosity, and wonder.
By the end of the session, students will have their own collection of nature sketches and a deeper appreciation for the beauty and intricacy of the world around them—just as Beatrix Potter did.
